Dear URPE Member:

My name is Yael Foa, and I am the Assistant Regional Coordinator of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) Organizing Institute (OI). As you may know, the Organizing Institute recruits and trains motivated graduating seniors who are committed to working for social and economic justice and are interested in becoming union organizers, and helps them get placed into full-time jobs with unions across the country.

I am writing to ask for your assistance in helping us publicize a new training program that will provide students who are not yet graduating with employment opportunities that will develop their leadership and organizing skills while they work side by side with workers who are unionizing their workplace. Students can easily work part-time in these positions while going to school.

We will be holding a specialized training for this program on July 8th and 9th in Philadelphia and are looking students/activists who are committed to social and economic justice and might be interested in attending. The training is free and food will be provided. We will not be able to provide housing.

Can you help spread the word about this exciting opportunity by forwarding the flyer below to current or former students, other faculty or staff, activist listservs, etc.? Any other ideas you have about ways to publicize this training are very welcome.

I can be reached at (781) 324-4088 ext. 4, by cell phone at (617) 816-0324 or email at yfoa at aflcio.org. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need additional information. Thank you in advance for your assistance in making this program a success!

In Solidarity,

Yael Foa
Assistant Regional Coordinator, Northeast
AFL-CIO Organizing Institute
