Responding to Comrade Bustelo's call for support, I went Woodruff Park tonight. A member of the Park Service handed out copies of the City Ordinance that prohibits camping in the Park after 11PM. 11PM came and went with no arrests.
A member of the local TV press said the station was live til 12 Midnight. The cameraman said, off the record, that any arrest would occur after 12.
About 30 people who had committed to being arrested sat in a circle with several hundred supporters who chanted and marched.
Midnight came and someone made the announcement that Mayor Reed would address the occupation. The General Assembly convened to discuss the visit by the Mayor. It was announced that the AJC (Atlanta Newspaper) had reported that the Mayor would "allow" the protesters to stay.
At 1AM The General Assembly meeting was still in progress. I had no means of taking notes and wish not to misquote the participants but it was agreed that the Mayor would address the Assembly as any other member and that the process of reaching consensus would stand.
It was unanimous that the Occupation will continue, that Mayor Reed would be invited to join the Occupation and offered a tent and blankets.
The name of the park has been declared Troy Davis Park and the Mayor would be asked to make that official.
