... and between the two reports a couple crucial points are clear. First, it reinforces the notion that a gender division of labor is constructed, not inbred. Second, that the hominid species that survived did so in part because women took on roles in a division of labor which was more fruitful than just hunting, and the Neanderthals failed, at least in part, because they didn't.
This certainly reinforces and supplements what many Marxist-feminist anthropologists have said to expand on Morgan and Engels' work.
