I was  quite impressed by Jane Gregg's succinct post on this matter.  It
seems that we Americans are always put to shame by foreigners who are able
to achieve much greater insight into our society.  I wish I had written
that post, and I hope that Jane's post marks the end of her lurking.  By
the way, I have read some of Teresa Ebert's work but who is Hennessy?
