The false claim that only
drudgery jobs are outsourced is laughable.

If you believe that lie, you believe Saddam Hussein was in cahoots with
Osama bin Laden and had weapons of mass destruction.

Paul Craig Roberts is John M. Olin Fellow at the Institute for Political
Economy and Research Fellow at the Independent Institute. He is a former
associate editor of the Wall Street Journal and a former assistant
secretary of the U.S. Treasury. He is the co-author of The Tyranny of
Good Intentions.


One does not get to be the John M. Olin Fellow of anything without first
establishing solid conservative credentials. Former US Treasury Secretary
William Simon (he who cobbled together the petrodollar deal with the Saudis
in 1974) was put in charge of the bequest in 1977, and stayed in that post
until he died in 2000. Samuel Huntington was perhaps the most prominent
beneficiary of Olin Foundation largesse, being the director of the John M.
Olin Institute for Strategic Affairs at Harvard University. Therefore it is
a measure of the extent to which alarm is spreading throughout various
branches of conservative opinion in and around the US ruling class that this
article should be so blunt in its identification of the economic hollowing
out that is currently proceeding. Michael Perelman makes similar points in
the most recent edition of the Review of Radical Political Economics -- you
might expect him to do that. For an Olin Fellow at the Independent Institute
